Jim Rubin has an extensive practice in all aspects of real estate, zoning and land use, public/private partnerships, construction and business law. He oversees much of the firm's estate planning practice that also involves wealth preservation and family-owned and privately-held businesses. Understanding his clients' needs is paramount; only with that knowledge may Jim's negotiating skills and preparation of well-drafted documents be effective.

As the entertainment business has grown in New Mexico, Jim's business practice has expanded into entertainment law. He has significant experience in drafting television network contracts, content and branded entertainment agreements, music and other intellectual property rights agreements, and has enjoyed negotiating with companies such as ESPN, Disney and Fox. Since 2007, Jim has also worked on all aspects of the Santa Fe Studios project that opened in fall 2011.

Over the last fifteen years, Jim has taught numerous continuing legal education courses on topics such as drafting purchase agreements, land title, survey and title insurance review, ethics, non-profit/501(c)(3) entities and estate planning. He is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (B.S.B.A.) and the University of Illinois College of Law. Jim also served from 1992-1998 as Chair of the New Mexico State Bar's Real Estate Specialty Committee.

For many years Jim served as president of Rainbow House, an international adoption agency serving families in New Mexico and Colorado. He also coached youth soccer for thirteen years as well as track at St. Michael's High School. Jim has been recognized by his peers in The Best Lawyers in America™, is a Southwest Super Lawyer™, and is Martindale-Hubbell "AV" Peer Review Rated.
